Summary
The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) began on March 31, 1933 under President Roosevelt’s New Deal to relieve the poverty and unemployment of the Depression. Several CCC camps were set up in Connecticut, including Camp Britton in Windsor.
Camp Britton was not your average CCC camp. Known lovingly as ‘Camp Bug’, it worked in step with the Connecticut Agricultural Station to research and execute insect control alongside more typical CCC projects.
